Pastor Shane is teaching a Bible study based on the book 10 Secrets to Life’s Biggest Challenges by Peter Lord with Kent Crockett (published by Chosen Books). All citations noted with page numbers are direct quotations from the book. Along with my notes (PDF links below), there will be a Video Study on Facebook. So, tune in on Wednesday Nights at 6:30 pm by clicking on this Video Study link.

Description:
Certain kinds of things just happen – and they happen to everyone. The big question, then, is: How do we handle these inevitable challenges of life in a way that pleases God and demonstrates his character and ways in this world? This study identifies ten situations everyone will face – related to choices, relationships, work, authorities, conflict, money, pressures from within, pressures from without, sorrow, and death – and discover practical ways to prepare for them. Through this study, we will gain a better understanding of how we can protect our loved ones from life’s storms and encourage them to make life-giving choices in every situation.

James Series

Where Real Faith Meets Real Life | 6:30-8 pm | Youth Center
Why study James? Because the book of James is where “the rubber meets the road” when it comes to real faith impacting real life. Pastor Johnny Hunt describes the book of James as “shoe leather” wrapped around faith because James teaches about practical everyday issues that directly impact our walk with God!

Join us as James teaches us how to: turn trials into triumphs, handle temptation, treat other people fairly and equally, know genuine faith from false faith, control our tongue, get wisdom, plan ahead, develop patience, pray and more!

Awana Clubs

Led by Jessica Jewell

Awana reaches kids where they’re at and walks alongside them in their faith journey. Awana offers a fun, proven approach for early evangelism and discipleship. Scripture-based programs and exciting games promote Bible literacy and help kids develop lifelong faith in Christ.
CUBBIES, SPARKS and T&T
Parents, please continue to make sure that your clubber is working through their book. You can sign off on their sections and when we are together again, we will get them caught up on their awards.

Please post on our SC Kids Facebook page the section you read as a family and the verse that your child said. For 20 bonus points post a video of your child saying their verse. This is a huge encouragement to my heart during this time when I can’t be with y’all and it let’s me see your beautiful faces. If you have any questions, please contact our Children’s Ministry Director Jessica Jewell.
AWANA at HOME:
  1. [Together] Pray for God’s help in understanding His Word.
  2. Parents, ask how was his/her week.
  3. [Together] Read the “Section.”
  4. [Student] Memorize “To Complete this Section.”
  5. [Parents] Sign under “Section Leader’s Signature.”
  6. [Parents] Take a photo of the signed page and share with the home teacher by Friday each week. Optional Challenge: Take a video clip and share with the teacher.
  7. [Together] Finish with a prayer to apply the verse in life.
