Operation Christmas Child 2019

4 Ways You Can Help at Shoal Creek:

1. Pack a shoebox (or two) at home. Operation Christmas Child time is HERE! Boxes, a flyer with instructions on how to pack a shoebox, and information sheets with age/gender group suggestions are available in the SCBC Library. Pick up a box (or two), purchase your items, and pack your own “Family Box” at home. Packing your own “Family Box” is a great way to teach your kids about missions and sharing the gospel. Then, bring it to the church on Sunday, November 24 at the 5:00 pm service for a special time of prayer and dedication. Note: If for some reason you know that date will not work for your family, bring your boxes into the library anytime before that date and fill out a Drop-Off Sheet at the circulation desk.

2. You can help with the OCC Drop-Off Center at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. The Drop-Off Center will be open specific hours beginning Monday, November 18 every day until Monday, November 25 and must be staffed during the scheduled Open hours.

Shoal Creek Baptist Drop-Off Hours:
  • Monday, November 18 | 10:00 am – 12:00 noon
  • Tuesday, November 19 | 10:00 am – 12:00 noon
  • Wednesday, November 20 | 12:00 noon – 5:00 pm
  • Thursday, November 21 | 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm
  • Friday, November 22 | 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
  • Saturday, November 23 | 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Sunday, November 24 | 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm
  • Monday, November 25 | 9:00 am – 11:00 am

3. Help sort and prepare for the two Shoebox Packing Parties. This year the “Packing Party” will be a little different. It will not actually be a church-wide event. There will be two packing parties going on at the same time on Wednesday, November 20. One in the Children’s Church room located at the very end of the Preschool Hall and one in the room located at the very end of the Elementary Hall. The kids will come to the packing party as part of their 20 minute class rotations during Awana. We will need a lot of volunteers in both areas to help the kids pack the boxes full (but not overly full). Our hope is that everyone helping that night will find time to pack a box or two. Due to the changes, a little more preparation and set up will be required. We will begin prepping for the packing parties on Monday, November 18. Note: If you have been buying all year for the packing party, please bring everything you have purchased to the church on Sunday, November 17 and place it in the corner under the library hours sign or under the library display window.

4. Volunteer at the OCC Processing Center in Atlanta, GA on Friday, December 13. We will need to leave our church NO LATER than 7:00 am. It will be a long day, but I promise it will be well worth the trip. When you sign up on this list (in the SCBC Library) you must provide your best email address. Marty Woodall will send you an Email Invitation with a link for you to fill out a form to pre-register. Pre-registration will earn us a “Fast Pass” to expedite our group check-in at the OCC Processing Center. You must be as least 13 years old to work at the processing center. We will take the church bus if we have a large group attending. The deadline to register is December 11.
