Definition of Immerse in dictionary form “to plunge into something that covers.”
God gave the prophet Ezekiel a vision of a man leading him through water that flowed from the temple. His vision reminds us that God’s desire is for His people to be moving ever deeper with Him throughout our lives. Ezekiel said, “As the man went out east with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a third of a mile and led me through the water. It came up to my ankles. Then he measured off a third of a mile and led me through the water. It came up to my knees. He measured off another third of a mile and led me through the water. It came up to my waist. Again he measured off a third of a mile, and it was a river that I could not cross on foot. For the water had risen; it was deep enough to swim in, a river that could not be crossed on foot.” (Ezekiel 47:3-5)

Adult Open Class: The Prodigal Prophet by Timothy Keller
Teacher: Gene DeVaughn
Location: Adult Multi-purpose Room
Description: Most people, even those who are nonreligious, are familiar with the book of Jonah: a rebellious prophet defies God and is swallowed by a whale. Less familiar to most people is the second half of this Biblical story — what happens after Jonah is released from the belly of the fish. Yet it is in this second half of the story that one of the most powerful and important lessons of the Bible is hidden.

The famous story shows how, if we would understand the mercy of God, it will always take us in directions we would rather not go, toward people we would rather not care about, and ultimately into the deepest counsels of God. In a time of growing division, The Prodigal Prophet shows us God’s love among people, and how Christians must listen to God’s call even when it takes them to uncomfortable places.

Youth Classes (Guys & Girls): It’s Not What You Think by Jefferson Bethke
Teachers: Lesley DeVaughn teaching the girls and Jayme Yarroch teaching the guys
Location: Youth Center
Description: God has always planned for us to experience so much more than our limited minds could grasp. Over the years we’ve drifted further away from God’s original design, and the story He tells in Scripture is lost in translation for most of us. If a life of religious duty in service to a distant God seems unfulfilling, that’s because it was never what God intended. Join us for this exciting study and see why Christianity is so much more than just going to heaven when you die!

NOTE: Due to the time and resources needed to launch the Connection Class Reboot, we were unable to properly prepare for a full Immerse semester. As a result, we will only be offering one adult class for the Spring semester. The study will be The Prodigal Prophet (listed above), which will be an interactive study on the life of Jonah. We look forward to having you join us this semester and returning to a full Immerse schedule in the Fall.
