Shane Russell
(334) 569-2482 |
Pastor
Pastor Shane Russell is literally “home” at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. His family moved to the area when he was two years old. He graduated from Holtville High School in 1993 and went on to earn a Bachelors Degree of Forestry from Auburn University in 1997.
After college, Shane began working with Mid-State Wood and married his junior high sweetheart Shannon Hall on September 6, 1997. Shortly after, the newlyweds moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and he took a position with Gulf States Paper Corporation. In Tuscaloosa, Mrs. Shannon completed her Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy and it was during this period that the Lord made clear He was calling Shane into the ministry. In 1999, the couple moved to Wake Forest, N.C. where Shane began postgraduate work at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. In May of 2003 he earned a Master of Divinity Degree from SEBTS. Upon graduation the Lord called the couple to the First Baptist Church of Woodstock, Georgia where Shane served as the Young Married and Discipleship Pastor. Although Pastor Shane and Mrs. Shannon loved serving and being a part of what God was doing at FBCW, after four years of ministry there the Lord began to lead them in the direction of home. The confirmation of the Lord’s call to come to SCBC came on March 3, 2006 through Proverbs 3:27 which states, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so.” This was the Lord’s way of leading them to come and invest in the lives of the people who growing up had invested so much in them. May 7, 2006 marked Pastor Shane’s first official day at SCBC. Pastor Shane and Mrs. Shannon have four sons: Clayton, Canon, Carson, and Caden. In addition to his passion to serve the Lord and his love of family, Pastor Shane likes to hunt, play sports, and claims to have the spiritual gift of “hanging out” with friends.
