| The dictionary describes a shelter as something that provides cover and protection, a refuge, a haven. As baptized, born again believers of Jesus Christ He becomes our shelter so that we can begin to serve Him and show His love to the lost and dying world. That is what the student ministry of Shoal Creek Baptist church is about: |

Our Purpose Reach, Teach, Minister Our Ministry at Shoal Creek has a threefold purpose to bring glory to God through reaching people with the gospel, teaching people the Word of God, and ministering to people through the love of Christ. |

Shelter, Cover, Retreat, Refuge, Sanctuary These nouns refer to places affording protection, as from danger, or to the state of being protected: Shelter usually implies a covered or enclosed area that protects temporarily, as from injury or attack: built a shelter out of pine and hemlock boughs. Cover suggests something that conceals: His blood covers me. Retreat applies chiefly to a secluded place to which one retires for meditation, peace, or privacy: a rural cabin that served as a weekend retreat. Refuge suggests a place of escape from pursuit or from difficulties that beset one: "The great advantage of a hotel is that it's a refuge from home life." (George Bernard Shaw) Sanctuary denotes a sacred or inviolable place of refuge: A place of worshipping our Lord and Savior. |

Wednesdays at 7:00 am
First Priority clubs meet weekly at Holtville Middle School and High School. They are student-initiated and student-led. Students hold one another accountable, are challenged to live out their faith, share their personal stories, and bring their friends to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

See You at the Pole™, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. Twenty years later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.
See You at the Pole™ is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole™ is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event.

people to the living God.
Tony Nolan
Tony's passion is "helping people get it about God's great love and salvation!" Tony recently
served as Tour Pastor and Communicator for Casting Crowns Lifesong Tour and the largest
Christian Tour in America, Winter Jam. Tony is the Author of the popular devotional book,
"Faith Fuel - a refueling journey" and producer of several best selling DVD and CD resources.
Louie Giglio
Passion has been around since 1997 with a desire to see spiritual awakening come to the
college campuses of the nation and the world. More than a conference organization, the Passion
movement is headquartered in the Atlanta suburb of Alpharetta, GA. The small Passion Team
is led by Louie Giglio and operates under the direction of a Board that is committed to spreading
the fame of Jesus Christ to the 16+million college students of the nation and countless others
around the globe.
David Edwards
Whether it's talking to skaters, street people, or groups of thousands about Jesus, David
Edwards lives out his mission by re-introducing the truth of God's Word, helping people get one
step closer to Christ.
Jamey Ragle
Ragle has dedicated his life to reaching the lost, making people soul-conscious and strengthening
the body of Christ. Jamey ministers using Biblical and personal illustrations along with humor
to communicate powerful Biblical principles.
David Platt
Dr. David Platt, Senior Pastor at The Church at Brook Hills, is deeply devoted to Christ and
His Word. David's first love in ministry is disciple-making - - the simple biblical model of teaching
God's Word, mentoring others and sharing faith. Casting Crowns
Casting Crowns is a Grammy and Dove Award winning Christian band. The band was created
in 1999 by youth pastor Mark Hall at First Baptist Church in Downtown Daytona Beach, Florida
as part of a Youth Group. He also serves as a lead vocalist. Their albums include the
self-titled Casting Crowns, Lifesong, and The Altar and the Door.
Third Day
Multi-platinum-selling Christian rock band Third Day has played to millions of fans in numerous
sold-out arenas around the world. It’s garnered 24 No. 1 singles across multiple formats - not
to mention armloads of Grammy and Dove Awards. The band's name is a reference to the
biblical account of Jesus rising from the dead on the third day following his crucifixion.
Barlow Girl
Barlow Girl is an all girl band made up of three sisters: Rebecca, Alyssa, and Lauren Barlow. Their
song "Never Alone" was the longest running #1 song in 2004 on Radio and Records Christian
Hit Radio (CHR) and Christian Rock charts, and was the "Song of the Year" on both charts.
Spur 58
Taking its name from a road in rural Texas, five-piece modern rock band SPUR58 writes music
that speaks to its desire to see people worship God intimately, using transparent stories of real life.
Sleepwalker, SPUR58’s debut album for Indelible Creative Group is the follow up to several
successful independent releases the band has put out during incessant touring; and features
their rich blend of piano-based modern rock.
Joel Engel
For Joel Engle, worship isn’t something he does; rather worship is something he aims to live.
And with one listen to the songs of Made For Worship, there is no denying the testament of
God’s grace and power to overcome whatever adversity life brings. It is because of that grace
and power that Joel has lived, and it is the reason why he worships today.

God's love with people all over the world. OM seeks to bring the message of Jesus Christ to the
peoples of the world through literature, the creative arts, friendship, Bible studies, videos,
correspondence courses, relief and development work, and much more.
Voice of the Martyrs
The Voice of the Martyrs is a non-profit, interdominational organization with a vision for aiding
Christians around the world who are being persecuted for their faith in Christ, fulfilling the Great
Commission, and educating the world about the ongoing persecution of Christians.
Student Life
Student Life is all about pointing people to Christ...bringing God's word to life...encouraging
people to worship...challenging people to lead...helping people experience spiritual intimacy, and
supporting the local church. Student Life is an interdenominational ministry focused on helping
people know Christ through His word. Jesus Christ is the focus of our camps, conferences, and
curriculum and the standard by which we measure our teaching and worship.

The Office of Collegiate & Student Ministries -- in partnership with the churches and associations
of the Alabama Baptist State Convention -- ministers to college, university, middle and high
school students in order to reach students for Christ, grow faithful disciples, prepare students
